Ahhh George

Abandoned Workshop, Sheffield (George Barnsley’s & Sons)

I don’t usually start my posts by saying where the place is but this one is so unique you can really pick it out from the others. What makes this works a different explore from the rest is the fact that there is loads still intact such as the machinery, work benches, cups, plates, equipment etc. The building also involves a bit of a mission to get in, which I like a lot! As it gets you going for sure. This explore was a revisit as I have been last year however I only had my phone back then so got some much better quality shots this time and explored much more of the actual complex.

Brief History

George Barnsley and Sons aka Cornish Works which was founded in 1836, specialised in forge filing and cutting tools for leather workers and shoe makers.

What makes this place really cool is the bridge which connects both sides of the buildings together..Dope!

Leaving a mark.. This is from my last explore here which was September (2013) where I wrote my mark (Sheards) on the dusty window, this window is covered with names from the people who’ve ventured to this works. I hope it’ll stay for years to come!
